Nimali is a Programme Manager in the European Climate Foundation’s Climate Planning and Law’s team and Target True Zero campaign, where she oversees a portfolio of grants that monitor and ensure accountability for Europe’s transition to net zero. Nimali comes to that role with a strong background in strategic communications, gained across the corporate, non-profit, and government sectors. As Head of Communications at the European Food Information Council in Brussels, Nimali led a team of science communicators in their work to tackle misinformation and advance the European conversation on food, health, and sustainability. Previously at the European Climate Foundation, she co-directed a global network of communications experts dedicated to strengthening the public discourse on climate change and its solutions and provided strategic communications advice to the broader European climate action community. During her time at the foundation, Nimali also coordinated the media operations around major international summits and conferences, including the UNFCCC’s COP21 which saw 195 nations adopt the landmark Paris Agreement. Born in Frankfurt/Main, Germany, Nimali pursued her academic and early professional career in the UK and spent the past 10 years living and working in the Brussels “EU Bubble”.
